Adobe Lightroom - Getting Started

  • Course
  • 9 Lessons

There is definitely a learning curve to Adobe Lightroom. Once you understand how to get around while staying organized, you'll feel better and things will get easier quickly. In about an hour you will learn how to: • Set up your computer and Lightroom • Properly import photos from your camera • Navigate inside of Lightroom and adjust your photos • Export photos out of Lightroom
Why we're using Lightroom:
By now, you probably have an idea that editing can do great things for your photos. We recommend Adobe Lightroom because it's powerful, and while there is a cost, that cost is rather moderate. In addition to the cost of the software, we also consider how much time is needed to learn a new software package. We've seen many free editing software packages arrive with great fanfare only to go defunct in a few years, leaving users behind and forcing them to re-invest their time in learning another program. Adobe and Lightroom are so committed to photo editing at this point, that it's unlikely Lightroom will be discontinued. We believe that anything you learn about Lightroom today will still be useful to you in the future.

Why we made this course for you:
Our photo editing courses (Photo Editing 1 through 3) can take you through the whole process of setting up, importing, editing, artistic editing, and exporting photos, step by step, and in great depth and detail. That's not what this video course is made for. Rather, it will get you set up and going quickly, on a very initial level, and with your right foot forward.

Why it's important to stay organized:
Being able to find your photos years after you took them requires some organization. Before you start using Lightroom, it's a good idea to make sure to set up the folder structure on your computer to help keep things organized. If that's done right, it will make finding photos later a breeze. Setting up your computer to work with Lightroom is the subject of the first class. We feel so strongly about helping everyone get started the right way that we made it free.
If you're looking for a method to store your photos in such a way that you can find them again, years after you took them, watch the free video and get started.
